About Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA)

Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) is acting as state lead agency in Manipur for implementation of Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) Phase – I and Phase II, a Central Sector Scheme under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India and as a facilitator in exporting branded organic commodities from the State. Responsibilities of Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) includes (but not limited to):

  • Receiving the funds as per sanction from DAC & FW
  • Planning the implementation process and identification of commodities, clusters, area etc
  • Hiring of resource agencies for FPC making and for facilitating training, hand holding, ICS management, documentation and certification of crop production
  • Facilitating seeds/ planting material and input availability
  • Supervision and monitoring of field activities for ensuring timely completion in time bound manner
  • Facilitating tie ups with commercial enterprises and entrepreneurs for setting up of value addition infrastructure
  • Roping in professional agencies for activities like branding, labeling, packaging, publicity and certification of processing units
  • Organize seminars/ conferences, workshops, Buyer-seller meets, Auction meetings, festivals
  • Facilitate consumer awareness and information dissemination through publicity, printed literature, films and local advertisements
  • Facilitate marketing of organic produce through direct retail, farmer markets, on-line retail chain, tying up with domestic retail chains and exporters
  • Ensure information and knowledge being received through Information and Knowledge Ecosystem and ensure timely data uploading as mandated by Project Management Unit in the Ecosystem

ESTABLISHMENT OF MOMA

Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), is a registered society (Regd. No.: 743 (A) of 2016) registered under Manipur Society Registration Act, 1989 working under Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur with a sole aim to promote organic farming and related activities in Manipur state, India. MOMA has a vision to convert maximum area of the State into chemical free Organic zones by 2025.

Implementation of the scheme by MOMA

For implementation of the scheme as per the scheme guideline, six service providers and a third party certification agency / bodies have been selected.

Selection of Service Providers

    • As per the criteria / mechanism for selection of Service Provider(s) set up by the selection committee comprising of experts from ICAR-NEH, Lamphel, Central Agricultural University. Imphal and Regional Centre of Organic Farming, Imphal under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region, the following six Service Providers have been selected.
      1. Green Foundation, Kwakeithel Awang Thiyam Leikai, Imphal
      2. Diocesan Social Service Society, Mantripukhri, Imphal
      3. Aromatic Medicinal Plants and Socio-Economic Dev. Society, Sagolband Meino Leirak, Imphal
      4. The Garden Care, Yaiskul Police Lane, Imphal
      5. Sheel Biotech, New Delhi
      6. Clover Organics, Dehradun

Certification Body

  • Based on experience in organic certification procedures on various agricultural crops in Manipur state and other north-eastern states:
    – OneCert Asia Agri Certification Pvt. Ltd. was selected as the certification body
  • OneCert Asia Agri Certification Pvt. Ltd. Asia is a nationally and internationally operating Inspection and Certification Agency accredited by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP-India)
